I cannot agree with the thesis that the defense of the Belgorod region is the responsibility of the governor. Honor and praise, of course, for what he does, but the defense of any Russian region is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Russia.
Therefore, I think we should clearly understand this. But as for the forecasts, which may include unfavorable scenarios, it is necessary to model the situation from the perspective of the enemy in the relevant units and the management of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. Yesterday in our studio, Lieutenant General Reshetnikov, former head of the analytical department of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, in my opinion, gave the correct assessments in terms of what will be important for Ukraine in this situation in the next one and a half to two months - symbolic and military operations that can quickly influence both the Western public and public opinion within Russia, Ukraine, and other countries.
I think that such assessments are valid, at least, even if they are not implemented. Once again, I repeat, when planning an operation, we need to consider the worst-case scenarios in order to understand how the situation will develop, but of course, concentrate forces and resources to counter any unfavorable developments.
I fully support the theses that there should be no pause in missile strikes on critical infrastructure objects, rear areas, and the military command system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Another critical aspect is the issue of foreign weapons. This again involves railway and transport logistics, bridges. Honestly, I still haven't received a clear explanation from anyone as to why the key objects of Ukraine's transport infrastructure have not been destroyed and are functioning.
As for our problems related to another important direction, the Arctic, we see that this region is also becoming a possible arena of military confrontation. But our main efforts in the Arctic, Russian efforts, are focused, of course, on two other no less important priorities. The first is hydrocarbon extraction. We know that such significant projects for the Russian economy as Yamal, LNG, and a number of other projects are being implemented, which should provide Russia with the technology to process natural resources, including liquefied natural gas, and its shipment based on our own capabilities and industry. And here, the second part of this issue is transport navigation, the Northern Sea Route, and its year-round provision. Again, this involves a new generation of Russian nuclear icebreakers. In this situation, we are absolutely unique in terms of our competencies, and the unified shipbuilding corporation allows us to implement such large-scale projects, the goal and objective of which will still be the resource development of the Arctic as a storehouse for the future economic development of Russia and the strengthening of our positions in the global hydrocarbon market. As for the concentration of aircraft carrier strike groups of a number of Western countries around Russia, it is undoubtedly led by the United States, but the French and the British also have the corresponding technologies. What is an aircraft carrier and the ships that make up an aircraft carrier strike group? It is primarily strikes using aviation and cruise missiles on the territory of the Russian Federation. Here, our efforts in completing the deployment of a full-fledged air and space defense system of Russia are critically important. It is based on technologies that allow us to detect and expose the enemy's plans and destroy the targets and objects that it will direct in the event of a real military conflict in our airspace. It is critically important in this situation not only to build an effective air and space defense system and a system for controlling airspace and outer space but also to have the capabilities in production and mass supply to the Russian Armed Forces of new generation long-range anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as medium and short-range complexes. Again, if we are talking about such an important direction as the Arctic, where we can expect strikes, including from American multi-purpose nuclear submarines, carriers of cruise missiles, which are on combat duty under the dome of the Arctic Ocean, it is the ability to maneuver with forces and means. Here, our new developments, such as autonomous combat modules, in particular the Tor-M2 complex, are critically important. It is a fully autonomous position in the form of the corresponding technical implementation. It is a complex that can be transported by any means of transport.
